2022年12月5日，国际科学理事会（International Science Council，ISC）在南非开普敦召开的世界科学论坛（World Science Forum）上正式宣布了新当选的ISC会士名单，郭华东院士当选为ISC会士。这是继今年6月ISC聘任66名创始会士后，首次通过全球范围提名评选产生的ISC会士。
